Implement the project “Enhancing Resilience to climate change through implementing flood mitigation interventions in the Gaza Strip”

In general, the Gaza Strip suffers from a lack of adequate rainwater drainage infrastructure, and in particular, Many low-lying areas suffer from the problem of flooding due to the accumulation of rainwater and its lack of proper drainage, causing damage to lives and property, disrupting the movement of citizens and damage to infrastructure.
Climate change is considered one of the most important factors causing floods caused by rains, as it affects the regularity of precipitation and causes severe precipitation in a short time, making it difficult to drain and leading to a laminate in the sewage networks.
Therefore, the Palestinian friends of the environment Association, in partnership with Oxfam, sought to implement the project “Enhancing Resilience to climate change through implementing flood mitigation interventions in the Gaza Strip” funded by UNICEF to mitigate the effects of floods in the Jura Al-LUT area in Khan Younis Governorate through the construction of a rainwater drainage network on Sikka Street. In addition to raising awareness of the community and enhancing their resilience in building emergency plans before, during and after the occurrence of floods to mitigate their effects through awareness meetings and the distribution of media materials.
