Through the collaboration of various forces under the banner of humanitarian and environmental work, the Palestinian Environmental Friends (PEF) have carried out a project titled “Integrated WASH and protection action to enhance the resilience of most vulnerable communities affected by the protracted humanitarian and COVID-19 crisis in the Gaza Strip.” The project aims to strengthen resilience within the most vulnerable and crisis-affected communities, considering the long-term humanitarian crises and the COVID-19 pandemic in the Gaza Strip.

This impactful project was executed in a distinguished partnership with OXFAM, generously supported by the Italian Agency of Development and Cooperation. The efforts were directed toward improving the primary healthcare infrastructure in selected areas. The project was implemented in seven clinics spread across Gaza’s governorates, including Khan Younis, the middle area, and Gaza City.

Among the project’s key objectives were the rehabilitation and maintenance of healthcare centers, achieved by enhancing water and sanitation systems while providing sustainable solar energy sources. Additionally, awareness and educational campaigns were conducted to underscore the importance of vaccinations for COVID-19 prevention, coupled with informative lectures aimed at local communities.

This project reflects the dedication of PEF to providing support and contributing to resilience and health awareness within our societies. It represents an opportunity to unify efforts for the environment and health, leading to a positive transformation that enhances the quality of life and fosters a sustainable future for our region.
